Can I install a tankless water heater on my own?
Installation can be hard work, which is why we always recommend that your tankless water heater be installed by a certified technician who has been professionally trained to take care of the electrical, venting, gas and plumbing aspects of your tankless water heater installation.
What kind of maintenance does a tankless water heater require?
There are really only two maintenance tasks that need to be done in order to keep your tankless water heater running in tip-top shape:
- Check your in-line screen filter periodically for debris (intervals to check will vary depending on the quality of your water).
- You should flush your tankless water heater unit periodically to prevent lime and scale buildup. This is a complex process that should only be handled by a professional.
How long will a tankless water heaters last?
Tankless water heaters can last significantly longer than their conventional counterparts can. How many tankless water heaters do I need for my home?

Although most of our tankless water heaters will cover average hot water usage, depending on the size of your home and how often you are using hot water, this answer will vary. Here are some helpful tips from our professionals on how to figure out how many gallons of hot water you will need for your home or business:
- Calculate your water usage. Dishwashers, shower heads, and washing machines all use about 2.5 gallons of water per minute. If you use all three of these simultaneously, that is roughly ~7.5 gallons of hot water used per minute. Bathtubs use about ~7 gallons per minute, and rain head showers or other unique showerheads and nozzles frequently require more hot water than your standard showerhead.
- Plan for the future. If you have several showers or bathtubs in your home, but only frequently use one, it’s easy to think that a small tankless water heater unit will suit your needs just fine. However, if you ever have guests over, or plan to sell your home in the future, it would be worth investing in a larger (or secondary) tankless water heater to accommodate your home hot water usage.
- Temperature is everything. The colder your tap water is, the less flow you are going to get out of your tankless water heater (because it takes longer to warm up). For this reason, Tankless Water Heater USA recommends planning your water heater purchase using the winter temperature of your tap water. This covers your worst case scenario and guarantees you access to hot water even during your area’s coldest nights.
Why don’t I get any hot water when I turn on the tap?
Before you can take advantage of endless hot water, make sure that your tankless water heater is connected to your gas, water, and electrical lines. Also, verify that your power and gas are both turned on.
Why is my water filter slower than usual?
